Good value for yearly plan

I was looking for a good deal on a PDF editor and found LightPDF. The monthly price seemed a bit high for what I needed, but then I saw the yearly subscription. It was a significant saving, something like 40% off compared to paying month-to-month. I decided to get the yearly plan for the AI PDF Editor and it felt like a smart purchase. I've used it to summarize a few long documents already. Definitely worth the money if you're going to use it often.

Easy to merge files

I had a bunch of separate PDF files for a project and needed to combine them into one. Tried the PDF Merger on LightPDF and it worked really well. It was super straightforward, just uploaded the files and clicked merge. The new combined document downloaded without a hitch. I was a bit worried it would mess up the formatting but everything looked good. It made my life a lot easier, honestly. Pretty happy with it.

They definitely have student pricing. I've seen it mentioned, and it's usually a solid discount, especially if you're going for a longer plan. Just check their pricing page, should be an option there.

what's the deal with the free version? is it basically useless or can you get some stuff done?

O Omar 2 months ago
It's not useless, but it's limited. Good for quick edits or conversions. You hit a wall pretty fast though if you're doing a lot.

The free version is okay for light use – maybe a couple conversions or a small edit here and there. But you'll run into limits on things like file size, number of tasks per day, and some features are totally locked. It's more of a demo than a full free product, if that makes sense.

Does anyone know if they do a lifetime deal often? Or is it like a once-a-year thing?

R Ryan Foster 2 months ago
I grabbed a lifetime license during a Black Friday sale last year. They seem to pop up during big sale events, not constantly.

They definitely offer lifetime deals, but it's not always available. Keep an eye out during things like Black Friday or maybe New Year's. It's a really good value if you catch it.

Is it safe to upload sensitive documents to LightPDF? Like, are they secure?

S Sarah L. 2 months ago
I've used it for work documents and haven't had issues. They say they don't store your files permanently.

From what I understand, they have security measures in place. They emphasize not storing files on their servers long-term, especially with the online tools. For really sensitive stuff, I'd probably stick to the desktop app and not upload if possible, but for general use it seems fine.

Thinking of switching from Adobe Acrobat to LightPDF. Is it actually worth it or am I just buying into the hype?

S Shane Brooks 2 months ago
Adobe is good but pricey. LightPDF is way cheaper and handles most of what I need for PDFs. The AI stuff is surprisingly useful for summarizing long docs.

Depends on what you use Acrobat for. LightPDF is super capable for general editing, converting, and merging. The AI features are a big plus for me. If you're not doing super complex design-level PDF work, it's a strong contender and saves a ton of money.

Can you use this thing offline? My internet can be spotty sometimes and I need to work on PDFs.

S Sarah 1 month ago
Yeah, if you get the desktop app, it works without internet for most things. Just won't sync to the cloud if you're offline.

The desktop version works offline for sure. The web version, obviously not. I switch between them depending on where I am and if I have good signal.
